Knitting Delivered in Uganda
A big thank you to Jenny, a valued volunteer at Knit for Peace’s offices, who recently went on the trip of a lifetime to Uganda to see gorillas in the Mgahinga National Park and to drop off some knitting for the Rwenzori community!

Special Appeal
We have just received an urgent request to support knitting/craft businesses in the townships in Cape Flats, South Africa. Elderly women, virtually destitute, get a hot dinner at the community centre, and spend time knitting items for sale to generate some income. Seed money is needed to expand the project. It’s a modest but important way to supplement their meagre incomes and maintain their dignity. This is project we support through the Good Gifts Catalogue. Please help.

News:
Knitting in Prisons: We are very pleased to have been able to send out yarn and haberdashery to knitting groups in prisons in the UK. So please keep the donation of yarn coming.
Dressing Gowns: As the cold weather sets in, we particularly need warm dressing gowns (download pattern here).
Yarnporium: We are delighted to have been chosen as Charity of the Year at Yarnporium. Come and find us there on November 2nd and 3rd, at Central Hall Westminster.
North Middlesex NHS Hospital Trust in Edmonton would like to set up a Knit for Peace Group for patients & staff and seek knitters to join in. They have a meeting room aside. The hospital is well-served by public transport (many buses and Silver Street underground close by). Also, a free cup of tea can be provided! Suggested times: Mornings or Evenings once a week. If you’re interested, please let us know.

Sponsor a Sack
We are sending out more and more knitting – including 50 sacks for Syria, and to hospitals and homeless charities in the UK.
Thank you to everyone who helped us last month to send warm blankets and clothes to those in need at home and abroad.
You can sponsor a sack for just £12 by clicking the button above.
